Evan Davis has presented the BBC television series Dragons' Den since its first British series.
Davis is a British broadcaster and economist who became the programme’s on-screen host when the UK adaptation launched in 2005. His role is distinct from that of the Dragons: he introduces the pitches, explains the business context and guides viewers through the negotiations.
The investors on the panel have changed repeatedly over the programme’s history, but the presenter provides continuity between different line-ups. That distinction is useful because promotional material often focuses more heavily on the Dragons than on the host.
Davis has also been known for presenting other BBC programmes, including Newsnight and The Bottom Line. His Dragons' Den work combines practical explanation with the tense exchanges that occur when founders and investors disagree about value.
