Who has a lightsaber duel with a Sith before leaving the planet of Tatooine?

Qui-Gon Jinn has a lightsaber duel with a Sith before leaving Tatooine. In Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon encounters a mysterious warrior while protecting Queen Padmé Amidala and helping Anakin Skywalker escape the planet.

The attacker is later revealed to be Darth Maul, a Sith apprentice serving Darth Sidious. Their brief fight near Tatooine’s hangar gives Qui-Gon his first evidence that the Sith have returned after centuries of hiding. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan then flee the planet aboard the Naboo starship.

The confrontation is often confused with the much longer duel on Naboo. Qui-Gon fights Maul alone on Tatooine, but later joins Obi-Wan in the climactic three-way battle on Naboo. Maul fatally wounds Qui-Gon there, and Obi-Wan defeats the Sith using Qui-Gon’s lightsaber. Qui-Gon’s dying request leads Obi-Wan to train Anakin as a Jedi.
