Shaun Pulfrey founded the Tangle Teezer hairbrush company after appearing on the BBC's Dragon's Den.
Pulfrey, a hairdresser, developed a brush intended to detangle wet and dry hair with less pulling than conventional designs. He presented the idea on Dragon's Den in 2007, but the Dragons did not invest. The product later grew into an international beauty brand, making it one of the programme's best-known examples of a pitch that did not end with a deal.
Tangle Teezer brushes use flexible teeth arranged to move through tangled hair. The brand's growth came from product development, retail distribution and word-of-mouth recommendations rather than a Dragon investment. This is why the company's history is often discussed alongside Trunki when people list successful businesses that left the programme without backing.
The founder is sometimes confused with later Dragon-backed beauty entrepreneurs. Shaun Pulfrey's defining connection is Tangle Teezer, while the company's commercial success followed his television appearance rather than resulting from an on-screen investment.
