Rachel Elnaugh founded Red Letter Days, the experience-gift company linked to her Dragon's Den career.
Red Letter Days sold vouchers for experiences rather than conventional physical presents. Customers could buy activities such as driving, flying or leisure packages, creating a business model based on memorable events and gift occasions.
Elnaugh became one of the original Dragons in the UK version of the programme. Her background as a founder gave her a different perspective from investors whose careers were mainly in established retail, property or finance companies.
The company later encountered serious financial difficulties and entered administration in 2005. That episode is an important part of its history, but it does not change the fact that Elnaugh was the founder. Red Letter Days was later acquired and relaunched under new ownership.
