Who founded BrewDog and appeared with the company on Dragon's Den?
Answer
James Watt and Martin Dickie
Answer
James Watt and Martin Dickie
James Watt and Martin Dickie founded BrewDog and appeared with the company on Dragon's Den.
Watt and Dickie established BrewDog in Scotland in 2007. They were friends who shared an interest in brewing distinctive beers, and they developed the company from a small operation into a major craft-beer business. Their roles combined brewing, product development and business leadership.
The pair appeared on Dragon's Den while BrewDog was still seeking growth capital. The televised pitch did not produce a completed deal with the Dragons. Instead, the founders continued developing the company through other funding and expansion strategies, including later crowdfunding campaigns that invited members of the public to invest.
BrewDog's founders are sometimes confused with the investors who have appeared on the BBC programme. Neither Watt nor Dickie was a Dragon on the British series. They were entrepreneurs pitching their own brewery, and their appearance is notable partly because the business later became successful without a Dragon's investment.
