Who directed the season 2 episode Dig Dug?

The story behind the answer

Andrew Stanton directed the Stranger Things season 2 episode “Dig Dug.” It is the fifth episode of the season and was released with the rest of season 2 on October 27, 2017.

“Dig Dug” follows several escalating storylines: Hopper becomes trapped in the tunnels beneath Hawkins, Will experiences visions connected to the underground network, and Nancy and Jonathan work with Murray Bauman to expose Hawkins Lab. The title refers to the mysterious tunnels spreading beneath the town.

Stanton is best known as a Pixar filmmaker, having co-written and directed animated films including Finding Nemo and WALL-E. His involvement was an unusual but notable crossover for Stranger Things. He also directed the following episode, “The Spy,” making episodes five and six a consecutive pair.

Viewers commonly confuse Stanton with the Duffer Brothers, who created the series and directed several episodes, or with Shawn Levy, another major director on the show. The episode’s writer was Jessie Nickson-Lopez, while Stanton handled direction.
