Who directed the 2019 biographical film Rocketman?

Dexter Fletcher directed the 2019 biographical film Rocketman. The movie dramatizes Elton John’s rise from a gifted piano student to an international music superstar.

Taron Egerton played Elton John and also performed the songs used in the film. Unlike a conventional documentary, Rocketman presents John’s life through a stylized, musical-fantasy approach, blending real events with heightened visual sequences.

Fletcher had already worked extensively as an actor and director before making the film. He also directed the later parts of the 2018 musical biopic Bohemian Rhapsody after replacing Bryan Singer. Rocketman was written by Lee Hall and produced with Elton John among its executive producers, but Fletcher was the film’s director.
