Who directed the 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man?
Answer
Marc Webb
Answer
Marc Webb
Marc Webb directed the 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man. It was his second feature film after the romantic comedy-drama (500) Days of Summer and marked a new continuity for Sony’s live-action Spider-Man films.
The movie stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Its story follows Peter’s investigation into his parents’ disappearance and his transformation after being bitten by a genetically engineered spider. The main antagonist is Dr. Curt Connors, who becomes the Lizard and was played by Rhys Ifans.
Webb’s background in music-video and relationship-focused filmmaking influenced the film’s emphasis on Peter and Gwen’s romance as well as the superhero action. The movie was not directed by Sam Raimi, whose trilogy had ended with Spider-Man 3 in 2007.
The Amazing Spider-Man received a sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, also directed by Webb, in 2014. Sony later shifted to the Marvel Cinematic Universe films starring Tom Holland, directed initially by Jon Watts.
