Who directed the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

The story behind the answer

Robert Zemeckis directed the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The film combines live-action performances with traditionally animated characters in a detective story set in a stylized 1940s Los Angeles. Cartoon actor Roger Rabbit is accused of murder, so private investigator Eddie Valiant investigates while trying to clear Roger’s name.

Zemeckis directed the film, while executive producer Steven Spielberg helped shape its production. The animation was supervised by Richard Williams, whose team created the complex interaction between actors and characters from several animation studios. The film won four Academy Awards, including an award for its visual effects and a special achievement award for animation direction.
