Who directed the 1982 science-fiction film Blade Runner?
Answer
Ridley Scott
Answer
Ridley Scott
Ridley Scott directed the 1982 science-fiction film Blade Runner.
The film adapts Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? It follows Rick Deckard, a police officer assigned to track down bioengineered humanoids called replicants in a dystopian future Los Angeles.
Scott brought a highly visual style to the production, combining noir detective conventions with dense futuristic architecture, neon lighting, rain-soaked streets, and commercial advertising. Although the theatrical release received mixed reactions and performed modestly at first, Blade Runner later became a major influence on cyberpunk cinema and visual design.
The film exists in several versions, including the 1982 theatrical cut and later versions associated with Scott, especially the 1992 Director’s Cut and the 2007 Final Cut. These different edits sometimes cause confusion, but Ridley Scott directed all versions.
