Who directed Quentin Tarantino’s 1996 film From Dusk Till Dawn?
Answer
Robert Rodriguez
Answer
Robert Rodriguez
Robert Rodriguez directed Quentin Tarantino’s 1996 film From Dusk Till Dawn.
Tarantino wrote the screenplay and also appears as Richie Gecko, one of two criminal brothers at the center of the story. Rodriguez directed the movie, creating its abrupt shift from a crime thriller into a vampire action-horror film.
George Clooney plays Seth Gecko, while Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Cheech Marin and Salma Hayek appear in major roles. The film’s first section follows the Geckos and their hostages as they travel toward Mexico; after reaching the Titty Twister bar, the story changes genre dramatically.
Rodriguez and Tarantino had already formed a notable creative connection through their shared interest in energetic genre filmmaking. They later collaborated again on the segment “The Misbehavers” in Four Rooms. A frequent error is naming Tarantino as director because he wrote the screenplay and has a prominent role, but Rodriguez is the film’s director.
