Who directed Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street?
Answer
Martin Scorsese
Answer
Martin Scorsese
Martin Scorsese directed the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street.
The film is Scorsese’s black comedy about Jordan Belfort, a stockbroker whose brokerage firm becomes associated with fraud, extreme wealth, drugs, and lavish excess. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Belfort and also served as one of the film’s producers. The screenplay was written by Terence Winter and adapted from Belfort’s memoir.
The Wolf of Wall Street was released in December 2013. It marked the fifth feature-film collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio, following Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, and Shutter Island. Its energetic narration and fast editing are characteristic of Scorsese’s approach, while the subject matter generated debate about satire, glamour, and moral responsibility.
The film received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for DiCaprio, but won none. It is sometimes confused with Oliver Stone’s Wall Street, an earlier film about finance, yet Scorsese is the director of The Wolf of Wall Street.
