Who directed Despicable Me 2?

Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud directed Despicable Me 2.

The pair returned to direct the sequel after working on the original Despicable Me. Pierre Coffin also became especially associated with the Minions, including their vocal performances, while Chris Renaud was involved in the franchise’s visual and directorial development.

Despicable Me 2 continues Gru’s transition away from supervillainy. He is recruited by the Anti-Villain League to investigate a new criminal threat and works with Lucy Wilde. The story combines that investigation with the ongoing lives of Margo, Edith, Agnes, and the Minions.

The sequel was produced by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures. It was released in 2013 and expanded the franchise’s focus on both Gru’s family and the Minions’ comic behavior.
