Who directed Aliens, the 1986 sequel to Alien?
Answer
James Cameron
Answer
James Cameron
James Cameron directed Aliens, the 1986 sequel to Alien.
Aliens follows Ellen Ripley after she awakens from decades in suspended animation. She returns to the planet LV-426 with a unit of Colonial Marines after communication with a human colony is lost. Sigourney Weaver reprises her role as Ripley.
Cameron directed the film and wrote the screenplay with David Giler and Walter Hill receiving story credit. The sequel shifts from the original film’s isolated horror toward military science fiction and action while retaining the alien creature design associated with H. R. Giger.
Aliens earned seven Academy Award nominations and won two: Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects. Weaver received a Best Actress nomination, an unusual achievement for a leading performance in a science-fiction action film. The movie also introduced the character of the young survivor Newt.
