Who designed the McDonald's logo introduced in 1968?
Answer
Jim Schindler
Answer
Jim Schindler
Jim Schindler designed the McDonald’s logo introduced in 1968.
Schindler’s version simplified the earlier arches treatment into the familiar overlapping golden arches associated with the letter M. This design became a major step in making the arches an instantly recognizable corporate symbol rather than merely an architectural feature of a restaurant building.
The 1968 design is sometimes confused with the earlier 1962 logo, whose combined arches were designed by consultant Jim Schindler as well in accounts of the logo’s development. The later redesign changed the form and presentation of the mark as McDonald’s expanded.
The golden arches eventually became recognizable even without the restaurant name. That separation between symbol and wordmark helped McDonald’s build one of the most internationally visible identities in commercial branding.
