Who designed the first Assassin's Creed game as its creative director?

The story behind the answer

Patrice Désilets designed the first Assassin's Creed game as its creative director.

Désilets was the creative director of Assassin's Creed, which Ubisoft Montreal developed and Ubisoft published in 2007. His work helped shape the series' central ideas, including historical exploration, social stealth, parkour-based movement, and the conflict between Assassins and Templars.

The first game grew from an earlier concept connected to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Its historical storyline follows Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad during the Third Crusade, while the framing story introduces the Animus and the modern-day character Desmond Miles.

Désilets later worked on other projects, including Assassin's Creed II, before leaving Ubisoft. He subsequently co-founded Panache Digital Games and directed Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Jade Raymond was an important producer associated with the original Assassin's Creed, but she was not the game's creative director.
