Who created the television series Better Call Saul alongside Peter Gould?

The story behind the answer

Vince Gilligan created Better Call Saul alongside Peter Gould. Gilligan had previously created Breaking Bad, while Gould was one of that series’ writers and producers.

The pair developed Better Call Saul as a spin-off and prequel focused on Jimmy McGill before he adopted the Saul Goodman identity. The series premiered in 2015 and expanded the Breaking Bad universe with new characters and backstories.

Although Gilligan is often described as the show’s creator, Gould became its principal showrunner during production. This distinction sometimes causes confusion: Gilligan and Gould share the creator credit, but Gould was especially central to the series’ long-term development.

Better Call Saul retained the earlier show’s crime-drama setting while placing much greater emphasis on legal ethics, personal loyalty, and Jimmy’s relationship with Kim Wexler.
