Shaun Pulfrey created the Tangle Teezer product that appeared on the British programme Dragons' Den.
Pulfrey was a British hairdresser who developed the brush after observing how conventional brushes could pull and damage tangled hair. His design used flexible teeth arranged to pass through knots more gently than many traditional brushes. He originally called the invention the Ellipse, before the Tangle Teezer brand became established.
Pulfrey pitched the product on Dragons' Den and secured investment from Deborah Meaden. The exposure helped the company move from a small invention toward wider manufacturing and retail distribution. Tangle Teezer later expanded its range with products aimed at different hair textures, styling needs and age groups.
The inventor is sometimes confused with later entrepreneurs who appeared on the programme with other household products. Shaun Pulfrey’s contribution was specifically the detangling hairbrush, while the commercial brand became known by the shorter name Tangle Teezer.
