Who created the modern overlapping Golden Arches logo used by McDonald’s?
Answer
Jim Schindler
Answer
Jim Schindler
Jim Schindler created the modern overlapping Golden Arches logo used by McDonald’s. In 1962, Schindler combined the two separate architectural arches into the familiar stylized “M” shape.
The change reflected McDonald’s move from distinctive restaurant buildings toward a more flexible corporate identity. A graphic symbol could appear on packaging, signs, advertising, and other materials even when a restaurant did not display the original arch structure.
The logo is sometimes credited to the architect of the first arches restaurant, Stanley Clark Meston. Meston designed the early buildings, but Schindler created the later overlapping form that became the enduring corporate mark.
