Who created the modern graphic form of McDonald's golden-arches logo in 1962?
Answer
Jim Schindler
Answer
Jim Schindler
Jim Schindler created the modern graphic form of McDonald's golden-arches logo in 1962.
Schindler combined the two architectural arches into a stylized M, turning a restaurant-building feature into a compact corporate mark. This change made the identity easier to reproduce on signs, packaging, advertisements, and other materials.
The graphic logo built on work by architect Stanley Clark Meston, whose physical arches had appeared on McDonald's restaurant buildings during the 1950s. The two men therefore contributed to different stages of the symbol's development: Meston to the architecture and Schindler to the graphic mark.
The logo has been adjusted in presentation over the years, including changes to typography, colors, and surrounding design. However, the central arches remain the most enduring visual element of McDonald's branding.
