Answer
Needham Harper Steers
Answer
Needham Harper Steers
Needham Harper Steers created the McDonald’s character known as the Hamburglar.
The Hamburglar was introduced in 1971 as part of McDonald’s expanding group of advertising characters. He was portrayed as a small, mischievous figure whose main interest was stealing hamburgers. His striped clothing, mask, cape, and exaggerated manner made him visually distinct in television commercials and restaurant promotions.
The character was later redesigned, changing from a more sinister-looking figure into a smaller, childlike mascot. That shift fit McDonald’s increasingly family-focused brand and made the Hamburglar easier to place alongside Ronald McDonald, Grimace, and other characters.
The Hamburglar is sometimes confused with Grimace’s earliest role because both characters were connected to food-related mischief. They were separate creations with different designs: the Hamburglar targeted hamburgers, while early Grimace advertising involved milkshakes.
