Who created the Big Mac name before McDonald's adopted it nationally?

The story behind the answer

Esther Glickstein Rose created the Big Mac name before McDonald's adopted it nationally.

Rose was a McDonald's advertising secretary who suggested “Big Mac” in 1967. The name was selected for the company's new double-decker hamburger and became the official name after other proposed names were considered.

The sandwich itself was created by franchisee Jim Delligatti, who operated McDonald's restaurants in the Pittsburgh area. Delligatti developed the larger burger to compete with similar products, but he did not originate the final name.

The Big Mac first appeared in selected markets before becoming a national McDonald's product in the United States in 1968. Its name, layered construction, and special sauce later made it one of the clearest examples of McDonald's product branding.
