Who created the Assassin's Creed series as its original creative director?

The story behind the answer

Patrice Désilets created the Assassin's Creed series as its original creative director.

Désilets worked at Ubisoft Montreal and served as creative director for the first Assassin's Creed. He also held the creative-director role on Assassin's Creed II, helping shape the series' blend of historical settings, open-world exploration, stealth, parkour, and the modern Animus storyline.

Before Assassin's Creed, Désilets worked on games including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Assassin's Creed grew from ideas developed during work on the Prince of Persia franchise, but it became a separate intellectual property with its own Assassin-Templar mythology.

Jade Raymond was an important producer on the original game, while Ubisoft executives and many other developers contributed to the franchise. The distinction matters: Désilets is credited with creating the series, not with being its only developer or publisher.
