Who created McDonald's modern Golden Arches logo by joining two arches into an M?
Answer
Jim Schindler
Answer
Jim Schindler
Jim Schindler created McDonald's modern Golden Arches logo by joining two arches into an M.
The original arches were separate architectural elements on McDonald's restaurants. Schindler, an engineer and design consultant associated with McDonald's, combined the forms into a unified symbol in 1962. The result retained the visual memory of the buildings while making the mark easier to use on signs and other branded materials.
The logo is often described simply as a yellow M, but that description leaves out its architectural origin. The symbol developed from the restaurant structures designed by Stanley Clark Meston. Ray Kroc is also frequently associated with the Golden Arches because he expanded the company, but he was not the designer credited with joining the arches.
