Who created Better Call Saul with Vince Gilligan?

The story behind the answer

Peter Gould created Better Call Saul with Vince Gilligan.

Gould was a writer and producer on Breaking Bad and wrote “Better Call Saul,” the Breaking Bad episode that introduced Saul Goodman. When the spin-off was developed, Gould and Gilligan shaped it into a prequel centered on Jimmy McGill, while expanding Mike Ehrmantraut's history and introducing major characters such as Kim Wexler and Chuck McGill.

Gould became especially important to the series' later direction. He served as a writer, executive producer, and director, and he wrote and directed the series finale, “Saul Gone.” The show is therefore not simply a continuation of a single creator's work: Gilligan and Gould are both credited as its creators, with a large writing and production team developing the individual seasons.
