Who created and directed the first Assassin's Creed game?
Answer
Patrice Désilets
Answer
Patrice Désilets
Patrice Désilets created and directed the first Assassin's Creed game.
Désilets served as creative director on the original 2007 game, which Ubisoft Montreal developed. He is widely credited with shaping the game's central concept: a modern character accessing the memories of an ancestor while players explore a historical setting. The project evolved from work related to a Prince of Persia game before becoming a separate franchise.
The first title placed Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in the Levant during the Third Crusade and used cities such as Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus. Its combination of free-running, social stealth, assassination missions, and historical fiction established the series' identity.
Jade Raymond was an executive producer on the game, while Corey May wrote the script. Yves Guillemot is Ubisoft's co-founder and chief executive, not the game's creator or director. Those roles are often confused because several prominent Ubisoft figures helped launch the franchise.
