Who created and directed Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3?

The story behind the answer

Hideo Kojima created and directed Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3.

Kojima joined Konami in 1986 and became the principal creative force behind the Metal Gear series. His work combined stealth gameplay with long cinematic sequences, political themes, military fiction, and recurring ideas about information and control.

Metal Gear Solid, released in 1998, established the series as a major international success. Kojima returned as director for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty in 2001 and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in 2004. He also directed later main entries, including Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Solid V.

People sometimes confuse the series creator with a studio or publisher. Konami published the games, while Kojima was the named creator and director associated with their design and narrative direction.
