In Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, what year was the game released?

The story behind the answer

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes was released in 2014.

Konami launched Ground Zeroes in March 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It functions as a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and follows Snake during an infiltration of Camp Omega.

Ground Zeroes was designed around a smaller, concentrated mission structure rather than the much larger open-world format of The Phantom Pain. It introduced systems such as dynamic weather, day-and-night changes, and a more flexible approach to completing objectives.

The game is sometimes described as merely a demo, but it was sold commercially as a standalone release. Its events directly establish the circumstances that lead into The Phantom Pain.
