Who composed the soundtrack for the 2021 Mortal Kombat film?

Benjamin Wallfisch composed the soundtrack for the 2021 Mortal Kombat film.

The film’s score was written by British composer Benjamin Wallfisch, who created music for the 2021 theatrical reboot directed by Simon McQuoid. Wallfisch’s work used orchestral action scoring while also drawing on the game series’ musical identity and its long association with electronic dance music.

The movie was produced as a new adaptation rather than a direct continuation of the 1995 film. Its story follows Cole Young, an original character, and brings him into conflict with forces connected to the Mortal Kombat tournament. Familiar game characters include Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Sonya Blade, and Jax.

The composer is sometimes confused with artists associated with earlier Mortal Kombat music. The famous 1990s track “Mortal Kombat,” commonly called “Techno Syndrome,” was created by The Immortals, a separate musical act.
