Who composed the score for Jurassic World?

The story behind the answer

Michael Giacchino composed the score for Jurassic World.

Released in 2015, Jurassic World was the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise and the first entry in the later Jurassic World trilogy. Giacchino wrote and arranged its original instrumental score, providing music for the reopened dinosaur theme park, the genetically engineered Indominus rex, and the film’s action sequences.

His connection to the franchise began before the film itself. Giacchino had previously composed music for the video games Warpath: Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. For Jurassic World, he also incorporated motifs from John Williams’s celebrated Jurassic Park music, using those themes selectively to connect the new park with the 1993 original.

The soundtrack was released by Back Lot Music on June 9, 2015. The score is sometimes mistakenly credited entirely to John Williams because Williams’s famous theme returns in the film. Williams composed the original Jurassic Park music, but Giacchino composed the new score for Jurassic World. Giacchino later returned for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
