Who composed the original main theme for Assassin's Creed II?

Jesper Kyd composed the original main theme for Assassin's Creed II.

Kyd wrote the score for Assassin's Creed II, including the memorable recurring theme associated with Ezio Auditore's story. His music combines orchestral writing with electronic textures and vocal elements, helping establish the game's Renaissance atmosphere.

The score is often identified with the track “Ezio's Family,” which became one of the most recognizable musical pieces in the franchise. The theme was later reused and rearranged in several subsequent Assassin's Creed games, even when Kyd was not the sole composer.

Lorne Balfe composed the score for Assassin's Creed III, while Sarah Schachner worked on later entries including Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Austin Wintory is associated with Assassin's Creed Syndicate. These composers are therefore plausible alternatives, but the original Assassin's Creed II theme is credited to Jesper Kyd.
