Who composed the musical score for the original Assassin's Creed game?

The story behind the answer

Jesper Kyd composed the musical score for the original Assassin's Creed game.

Kyd's score helped establish the series' recognizable blend of orchestral, choral, electronic, and Middle Eastern-influenced sounds. The game follows Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad during the Third Crusade, and its music shifts between historical settings, stealth sequences, combat, and the modern-day science-fiction framework.

Kyd continued composing for the franchise in Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. His work on those games is sometimes confused with later scores by Lorne Balfe, who composed Assassin's Creed III and contributed to other Ubisoft projects, or Sarah Schachner, who scored Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

The original game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and released in 2007. Its music was an important part of distinguishing the series from conventional action games, because the soundtrack supported both historical atmosphere and the game's futuristic Animus technology.
