Who composed the musical score for Star Trek (2009)?
Answer
Michael Giacchino
Answer
Michael Giacchino
Michael Giacchino composed the musical score for Star Trek (2009).
Giacchino wrote the music for J. J. Abrams's reboot film, which introduces an alternate timeline for the original Star Trek characters. His score combines newly written material with musical ideas associated with the franchise. The main theme was developed separately from the opening fanfare heard over the Paramount logo, and the end-title music incorporates Alexander Courage's original Star Trek theme.
The film follows a younger James T. Kirk, Spock, and the rest of the Enterprise crew after the arrival of the Romulan vessel Narada changes history. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana lead the cast.
Giacchino had previously collaborated with Abrams on Alias, Lost, and Mission: Impossible III. He later scored Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond. Jerry Goldsmith, another major Star Trek composer, wrote the music for the first film and several later entries, but not this 2009 score.
