Who composed the music for Star Trek Beyond?

Michael Giacchino composed the music for Star Trek Beyond.

Giacchino had already written the scores for Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness, so Beyond continued his musical association with the alternate-timeline Enterprise crew. His score combines new action material with themes connected to the wider Star Trek musical tradition.

The film was released in 2016 and follows the crew after the USS Enterprise is attacked during a mission. Much of the story takes place on the planet Altamid, where the separated crew members confront the alien commander Krall.

A common confusion involves Jerry Goldsmith, who scored Star Trek: The Motion Picture and several later franchise projects, or James Horner, who scored Star Trek II and Star Trek III. Dennis McCarthy composed music for television projects, but Giacchino scored the three Kelvin-timeline films released between 2009 and 2016.
