Who composed the main theme for the 2016 Assassin's Creed film?

The story behind the answer

Jed Kurzel composed the main theme and score for the 2016 Assassin's Creed film.

Kurzel created the film's music for director Justin Kurzel, who also directed the movie adaptation. The score supports the film's movement between modern-day scenes and sixteenth-century Spain, combining orchestral writing with darker, tense textures suited to the story's Assassins and Templars.

Michael Fassbender stars as Callum Lynch and his Spanish ancestor Aguilar de Nerha. The film's modern-day plot uses the Animus to access Aguilar's memories, adapting a central idea from the games while telling a new story rather than directly filming one game's campaign.

The composer is sometimes confused with Jesper Kyd, who wrote music for several major Assassin's Creed games, including the first game and the Ezio-era titles. Lorne Balfe composed music for later game entries, not this film's score.
