Who co-created Spider-Man?

Spider-Man was co-created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Lee supplied the character's initial concept and written direction, while Ditko designed the familiar costume, visual style, web-shooters, and much of the character's early world.

Spider-Man first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August 1962. Unlike many established superheroes of the era, Peter Parker was a teenager dealing with school, money problems, loneliness, and family responsibilities. That everyday vulnerability helped make him unusually relatable.

Jack Kirby also worked on an early version of the project before Lee turned to Ditko, which sometimes causes confusion about the credit. Kirby's contribution is historically important, but the standard published credit for Spider-Man is Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Ditko drew the first 38 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man and helped define major characters and villains.
