Who chops Anakin's arm off in a lightsaber duel?

The story behind the answer

Count Dooku chops Anakin Skywalker’s arm off in a lightsaber duel. The fight takes place on Geonosis near the end of *Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones* (2002), after Anakin and Obi-Wan pursue Dooku as he tries to escape the Separatist stronghold.

Dooku quickly defeats Obi-Wan and then severs Anakin’s right arm with his red-bladed lightsaber. Anakin is later fitted with a mechanical replacement, an important step toward the cybernetic body he eventually has as Darth Vader. The injury also highlights Dooku’s superior experience and Anakin’s impulsive fighting style at this point in the story.

A common mix-up comes from the duel’s final stage: Yoda arrives and fights Dooku after Anakin is injured. Yoda does not cut off Anakin’s arm; he intervenes to protect Anakin and Obi-Wan from Dooku’s Force attacks and a collapsing structure. Obi-Wan is also wounded during the encounter, but Dooku is the one who causes Anakin’s amputation.
