The original Assassin's Creed game was first released in 2007.
Ubisoft published the game in November 2007 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a Windows version following in 2008. It introduced the series' central conflict between the Assassins and Templars and combined historical cities with a modern-day framing story.
The historical protagonist is Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, an Assassin operating in the Levant during the Third Crusade. The game includes cities such as Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus. In the modern storyline, Desmond Miles experiences Altaïr's memories through the Animus.
The release date is sometimes confused with that of Assassin's Creed II, which arrived in 2009 and began Ezio Auditore's story. The original game established the series' parkour movement, social stealth, investigation missions, and hidden-blade identity.
