Assassin's Creed III begins its historical story in 1754.
The game opens with Haytham Kenway in London before moving him to the American colonies. This opening section establishes Haytham as a Templar and introduces the colonial setting before the story later focuses on his son, Connor. The historical narrative covers a long period, from 1754 through the American Revolutionary era.
Connor, whose Kanien'kehá:ka name is Ratonhnhaké:ton, becomes the game's central Assassin protagonist. Major events connected with the American Revolution include the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party and the Declaration of Independence. The game also depicts figures such as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Adams.
The year 1776 is strongly associated with the game's later revolutionary setting, which makes it a common mix-up. However, the opening historical sequence is set in 1754. Assassin's Creed III was released in 2012 and follows the Kenway family established in earlier entries.
