Which year did the first Assassin's Creed video game release worldwide?

The story behind the answer

The first Assassin's Creed video game was released worldwide in 2007.

Ubisoft published the original game in November 2007, beginning a major action-adventure franchise built around historical settings, stealth, freerunning, and the fictional conflict between Assassins and Templars. The game follows Desmond Miles in the present and Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in the 12th century.

Its debut established ideas that became series trademarks: climbing prominent buildings, blending into crowds, investigating targets, and moving through large historical cities. The game initially launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a Windows version following in 2008.

2008 is a plausible answer because that is when the PC version arrived in many markets, but it was not the worldwide release year of the first console game. Assassin's Creed II arrived in 2009, while Brotherhood followed in 2010. The franchise's release history is therefore distinct from the chronology of its historical stories.
