Cesaro won the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX.
The match was held on April 6, 2014, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. It honored Andre the Giant, one of professional wrestling’s most famous larger-than-life performers, and became an annual WrestleMania tradition.
Cesaro eliminated Big Show by body-slamming him over the top rope to win. The celebration was designed to echo Hulk Hogan’s famous body slam of Andre at WrestleMania III, although Cesaro’s feat occurred in a battle royal rather than a singles match.
The event is often confused with other WrestleMania battle royals because later winners included Big Show, Baron Corbin, Mojo Rawley, and Braun Strowman. Cesaro was the first winner, and his victory came while he was still associated with the Real Americans team.
