Which wrestler won the first televised NXT Championship match in 2012?
Answer
Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins won the first televised NXT Championship match in 2012.
Rollins defeated Jinder Mahal in the final of an eight-man tournament to become the inaugural NXT Champion. The final aired on the August 29, 2012, episode of NXT, and the title was presented as the top championship of WWE’s developmental brand.
The tournament also included Michael McGillicutty, Richie Steamboat, Drew McIntyre, Bo Dallas, Johnny Curtis, and Leo Kruger. Rollins’s victory made him the first person officially recognized as NXT Champion.
The NXT Championship is separate from the NXT Tag Team and NXT Women’s Championships. Big E became the second NXT Champion, winning the title from Rollins in November 2012.
