Paige won the first NXT Women’s Championship tournament in 2013.
The tournament established the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion during WWE’s developmental-brand era. Paige defeated Emma in the final on June 20, 2013, in Winter Park, Florida, and the episode aired later on the NXT television program.
Paige’s reign lasted 308 days, although she was stripped of the championship after being called up to WWE’s main roster. She later defeated AJ Lee to win the WWE Divas Championship in her main-roster debut, making her the first woman to hold the NXT and Divas titles at the same time.
The result is sometimes confused with Charlotte Flair’s NXT championship victory, because Charlotte became the first NXT Women’s Champion under a later title lineage discussion and became a major NXT star. Paige, however, won the inaugural tournament and was the first champion.
