Which WRC event is held on the ice and snow of Sweden?

The WRC event held on Sweden's ice and snow is Rally Sweden.

First run in 1950 as the Rally to the Midnight Sun, the event became a winter competition and joined the World Rally Championship in 1973. Its frozen roads create unusually fast conditions: competitors use studded tyres that bite into the ice, allowing cars to brake and corner at remarkable speeds.

Rally Sweden was traditionally based around Karlstad and the Värmland region, but it moved north to Umeå in 2022. The relocation was intended to provide more dependable snow and colder conditions. Mild weather has previously disrupted the event, including the cancellation of the 1990 rally.

A common mix-up is confusing Rally Sweden with Rally Finland. Finland is famous for fast gravel roads, blind crests and huge jumps, while Sweden is the championship's distinctive snow-and-ice rally.
