Which Citroen World Rally Car debuted at the 2007 Monte Carlo Rally?

The Citroën C4 WRC debuted at the 2007 Monte Carlo Rally. Citroën returned to the World Rally Championship after missing the 2006 season, bringing an all-new car intended to replace its highly successful Xsara WRC.

Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo drove the two factory C4s on its first outing. The debut could hardly have been stronger: Loeb won and Sordo finished second, giving Citroën a one-two result. The C4’s engine, transmission and other mechanical systems drew heavily on the Xsara, but its revised chassis and greater width improved stability and performance.

The C4 became one of the defining cars of the late Group-era WRC. Loeb won the drivers’ championship with it from 2007 through 2010, while Citroën secured manufacturers’ titles in 2008, 2009 and 2010. It was replaced by the Citroën DS3 WRC for 2011, a common source of confusion when identifying Citroën’s successive rally cars.
