The vast Canadian bay connected to the Atlantic Ocean by Hudson Strait is Hudson Bay.
Hudson Bay is a large inland sea in northeastern Canada, bordered by Nunavut, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec. Although often associated with the Arctic Ocean, its northeastern outlet leads through Hudson Strait to the Labrador Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
The bay was named after English explorer Henry Hudson, who entered it in 1610 while searching for a northwest passage to Asia. His voyage helped inspire later exploration and the creation of the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1670.
A common mix-up is James Bay, which is not a separate ocean connection; it is the southern arm of Hudson Bay. Hudson Strait, meanwhile, is the narrow waterway—not the bay itself.
