Which U.S. city is home to the NHL's Blues?

The story behind the answer

Which U.S. city is home to the NHL's Blues? St. Louis is the answer.

The St. Louis Blues entered the NHL as an expansion team in 1967, joining alongside the Minnesota North Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, and Pittsburgh Penguins. The franchise was named for “St. Louis Blues,” the famous 1914 song written by W. C. Handy, linking the team to the city’s musical heritage.

The Blues play their home games at Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Their name can cause a small quiz-day mix-up because “the blues” also refers to a major American music tradition, but in an NHL question it means the professional hockey club.

St. Louis reached the Stanley Cup Final three times before winning its first championship in 2019. The Blues defeated the Boston Bruins in seven games, with goaltender Jordan Binnington emerging as a key figure during the run. The team’s colors are blue, yellow, and navy, and its historic logo features a musical note.
