Duncan Bannatyne left the UK Dragons' Den programme after series 12 to concentrate on other business interests.
Bannatyne was one of the original Dragons when the British version launched in 2005. He became known for direct questioning, energetic negotiations and investments in a range of businesses presented by entrepreneurs.
His departure marked the end of one of the show's longest-running original panel presences. Duncan Bannatyne is a Scottish entrepreneur whose business career included health clubs, hotels and care homes, and he later continued working on charitable and commercial projects.
The timing is sometimes confused with the departures of other early Dragons. Theo Paphitis left earlier, after series 8, while Peter Jones remained a continuing member of the panel. Identifying the series number helps distinguish Bannatyne's exit from the programme's several cast changes.
