The BBC produces the UK television programme Dragons' Den.
The British series was commissioned for BBC Two and became one of the channel’s best-known factual entertainment programmes. Its production combines an entrepreneurial pitch format with studio television, allowing viewers to follow negotiations over valuation, equity and investment conditions.
The BBC is the public-service broadcaster responsible for the programme in the United Kingdom. This is distinct from the production company involved in making individual series and from international broadcasters that show licensed versions abroad. The programme’s home channel is therefore not the same thing as its format owner or overseas distributor.
Dragons' Den is also often confused with Shark Tank because both programmes feature entrepreneurs seeking investment from a panel. They are related through the international format lineage, but the British programme remains a BBC production and uses its own UK panel, terminology and presentation.
