The BBC originally commissioned and broadcasts the UK television programme Dragon's Den.
The programme became part of the BBC’s factual-entertainment schedule, combining business pitching with the high-stakes negotiation of investment offers. Its regular home has been BBC Two, although episodes and related material have also been available through BBC services such as BBC iPlayer.
This distinguishes the UK programme from similarly named versions elsewhere. ITV, Channel 4 and Sky have all broadcast prominent business or reality formats, but they are not the original UK home of Dragon’s Den.
The broadcaster’s role is sometimes confused with the production company’s role. The BBC is the commissioning broadcaster; production has involved independent television producers, including Sony Pictures Television’s UK production operations.
